Waterford is a county in the Republic of Ireland and is situated in the southeast coast of the island of Ireland. The county forms part of the province of Munster. The main city is Waterford City and is the main administrative centre for the county while Dungarvan serves as the local administrative centre. The population of the county is in excess of 13,000.

The county is also known locally as ‘The Decies’ or An Déise in Irish. A tribe of Gaelic people from somewhere between the 4th and 8th centuries known as the Déisi were ousted out of the southern part of the country and after conquering for land settled in Waterford.
